Ben Green, Owner, Head Trainer:
I grew up on the Central Coast an lived almost exclusively in Grover Beach until I was 18. I grew up playing basketball, soccer and baseball. I played two years of men's club rugby for the San Luis Obispo Rugby Football Club. After graduating from AGHS in 2000 I decided to take my talents to the North Coast and attend Humboldt State University where I majored in Economics and minored in Political Science. Played rugby all 5 years and my senior year captianed the rugby teeam to a Div II national championship game. After college I moved on to Washington, DC where I played two years of Rugby Super League (highest level of rugby in US) with the Potomac Athletic Club (PAC). Was then contracted by a Div I club Northern Virginia RFC (NOVA) for one season. After which I decided to try rugby in New Zealand for a season. I had some success there and had a handful of starts in the premier division for the Northcote Rugby Club. After that I moved back to Washington, DC for another season with NOVA. Then the central coast called me back as I was seeing an increasing deficit in physical capital of those who I care most about. This was unacceptable to me so I wanted to give the people I care about an opportunity to achieve a much greater level of physical success. Consequently this has given all residents of the area the same opportunity.
Sectionals in VA. Spring of '10.
I started training myself about ten years ago while attending Humboldt State University. I stayed in and around the gym wherever I went as it was very pertinent to maintaining a successful rugby career. I found CrossFit in '08 and trained at CrossFitFairfax in Northern Virginia and under the direction of Jeff Tincher (one of the original CrossFit fire-breathers and had a 5th place finish in the 08 games) learned a lot about running a successful CrossFit affiliate. Along with training at his gym in Northern Virginia I received my first paid training job in June of '08 in downtown Washington, DC. Ever since that hire I have been fascinated by human performance. Learning about it, training myself and training others has been my passion for the last 3 years. Hopefully I can share my knowledge of training with you!
